West High School Nurses Area
Funktion Design Studio personnel have completed several renovation projects for the Wausau School District, each improving the efficiency, accessibility, and functionality of the area. The Wausau West High School Nurses Area and Franklin Elementary School Nurses Area underwent similar renovation projects to improve efficiency. Modifications provided accessibility of handicapped students to the treatment, rest, and toilet room facilities. The office areas were enlarged to allow for additional staff. Custom cabinetry was designed to maximize storage area. A project at Franklin Elementary School was completed to improve security by revising office layout to provide visual site lines to the entrance and doors and to allow staff supervision of those areas. The reading recovery center at Longfellow School was developed to accommodate special needs for a teacher to work with a student while other teachers observe in an adjoining room with proper acoustic and lighting design for special teaching.
